This Encounter May Now Begin Promo

David Adam Gill, Artistic Director New Ambassadors Theatre Company discussing This Encounter May Now Begin

As a playwright, Perryn's motto is Bigger, Faster, Funnier. His first full work, This Encounter May Now Begin, embodies this ethos. Drawing on his experiences as a Standardized Patient, Perryn created a madcap world of neurotic actors playing patients, medical students trying to be doctors, an oblivious (or is he) client, and a boss who will do anything to save the clinical skills center that brings them all together. Along the way, the characters accidentally show their ass, accidentally eat grass (brownies), all while trying to pass. The test. Will they? Won't they? You'll have to watch to find out.

Perryn's latest play, The Anniversary, is another comic work based on his experience. This time, his experience trying to plan his parents 50th wedding anniversary party. No asses are exposed. At least literally. But family secrets certainly are.

Perryn is also the Playwriting Instructor for Howard Meyers Acting Program. The class runs on Monday nights from 7-9pm EST. And it is entirely on Zoom. So, no matter where you reside, you can join us. All you need is a passion for storytelling. As an instructor, Perryn holds to his bigger and faster motto. Comedy not required. Perryn's goal is to encourage his students to dream big. Take the idea as far as it can go. And maybe further. You never know where it will take you. It took one of his students to the Chain Winter Theatre Fest where her play, The Axion, performed alongside the work of renowned playwright and Academy Award nominee Jose Rivera. All levels of experience are welcome.
